コロナ変異種、「オメガ型」まで行った場合、次から「おひつじ型」「おうし型」など星座名になると判明

Maria Van Kerkhove, the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 technical lead,
confirmed the agency is considering naming new COVID-19 strains after star constellations.
She also warned new variants could emerge which evade vaccines.

The agency started naming new mutations after letters of the Greek alphabet back in May.
（WHOは、今年の5月からコロナの変異種にギリシャ語のアルファベットにちなんだ名前を付け始めました。）

So far, 11 variants have been named – including the Delta, Beta and Alpha strains.

Dr Van Kerkhove told the Telegraph the WHO is looking at new names in case
they go through all 24 letters of the Greek alphabet.
